Ephesians - The Armor of God: Part 3 by Kurt

David Lyons

GUARD YOUR HEART

Righteousness is right living, doing the right thing in all circumstances. A breastplate is designed to guard our heart. Therefore, in Ephesians 6:14 we are to put on the breastplate of righteousness, we are to put that on to protect our hearts from the devil’s schemes. Why is this important you ask? Matthew 15:18-19 says, “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.”

How is your heart? Is it guarded from the evil things mentioned in Matthew 15. The reason the breastplate of righteousness to the armor of God is to protect our heart from all the many things the devil uses to hurt and damage our hearts. How’s your heart? Are you guarding it with God’s armor or the things of this world?
